LEWISBURG, W.Va., (WVDN) – Carnegie Hall is pleased to present multidisciplinary artist Melanie Myhre as one of the featured September/October Artwalk artists. The Museum Gallery exhibition is free and open to the public, running through October 30, 2026, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to explore all four galleries as part of the Carnegie Hall ArtWalk.
Myhre works in both photography and painting, creating evocative, dream‑infused imagery shaped by intuition, emotion, and a deep reverence for the natural world. Her exhibition invites viewers into a world where memory, imagination, and experiences converge.
Her photographic work is known for its immersive, in‑camera approach. Rather than relying on composites, she uses thoughtful post‑processing to craft scenes that feel both dreamlike and true to life. Often portraying women in nature, her photographs explore themes of femininity, strength, and the landscapes that shaped her own childhood – prairies, forests, and quiet wild spaces that continue to inform her creative voice.
In contrast, Myhre’s paintings emerge entirely from memory and imagination. She intentionally avoids reference photos, allowing her painting practice to remain distinct from her photography. Entering a flow state, she lets imagery surface organically, resulting in deeply personal works rooted in archetypal stories, recurring dreams, and the emotional textures of inner life. Together, her two mediums reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary, offering viewers a layered, symbolic, and quietly alive experience.
Myhre’s work has been featured in numerous publications and industry platforms, including Sony Alpha Universe and Sigma Corporation. She has contributed to books available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble and is a recipient of the Sony Alpha Female Micro Grant, recognizing her artistic excellence and creative innovation.
Outside the studio, Myhre enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, traveling with her husband, watching sci‑fi and fantasy films, playing pickleball, and learning Japanese – pursuits that echo the curiosity and wonder present throughout her work.
Carnegie Hall programs are presented with financial assistance through a grant from the West Virginia Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
