Charleston, W.Va. (WVDN) – WV Secretary of State Kris Warner said that early in-person voting is well underway for West Virginia’s Primary Election.

According to Secretary Warner, polling locations in all 55 counties had a total of 33,138 voters cast a ballot in person during the first week of early voting (April 29 through the morning of May 6). In the last West Virginia mid-term primary election, 24% of participating voters cast their ballots during the early voting period.

There is a total of 1,198,036 voters registered to participate in West Virginia’s May 12 Primary Election.

Secretary Warner is also releasing an update on the number of voters who have participated so far by mail-in absentee ballot. As of the end of the day on Tuesday, May 5, a total of 2,441 absentee ballots have been received by the state’s 55 county clerks.

Therefore, at the start of the day on Wednesday, May 6, a total of 35,579 West Virginia voters have already voted in the Primary Election.
