NETZEL
Erin Crosier Netzel, age 60, of Union, WV, was taken to Heaven on Monday, August 9, 2021.
Erin was born August 28, 1960 to the late Gerald “Jerry” and Margie Crosier of Union. Upon graduating Union High School in 1978, Erin worked for the Monroe County Clerk’s Office and attended Greenbrier Community College. She later transferred and graduated from Concord University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Her life dream of becoming a teacher was about to begin.
Erin began her teaching career in 1987 and poured her angelic heart into Monroe County School children, before retiring in June 2021. Erin taught Kindergarten at both Union Elementary and Mountain View School, touching the hearts of hundreds of young children and, later, the children of those students. Erin had a huge heart for children and wanted all to be happy and succeed in life. She was a very desired Kindergarten Teacher for her warmness and innate talent in preparing her students for life.
Erin began to enjoy her retirement with husband Norbert “Norb” Netzel, who also just retired after 8 years as the Assessor of Monroe County. Erin and Norb enjoyed their new retired life together by visiting family and friends in the places they loved and to be with those they loved.
Surviving Erin is her husband of 35 years, Norbert Netzel; children, Kristopher Atkins of Union and Kari Bernard and husband, Hunter; and grandchildren, Loki and Sloane of Winterville, GA. She is also survived by sister, Kelly Crosier of Union; and brother, Sean Crosier and wife, Twila of Charleston; as well as nephews and nieces who Erin dearly loved as her own. Erin is sadly missed, as her passing has left a huge void in many hearts. Her family asks for prayers for God’s comfort as they move forward.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2021 at the Groves-Mann Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV. Burial followed in Green Hill Cemetery. The family received friends Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 12 noon until time of the service.
The Erin Crosier Netzel Book Fund has been established at the Bank of Monroe in Union for anyone wishing to make a contribution to continue her love of educating children.
