RONCEVERTE, W.Va. (WVDN) — The Ronceverte Public Library is inviting the community to get creative this spring with a full slate of craft classes, historical performances and the return of a popular seasonal fundraiser.
The library’s spring schedule kicks off with a three-day “Art Week” from April 8 to 10. Starting at 1 p.m. each day, participants can experiment with balloon painting, string painting and balloon-string crafts.
For those interested in practical skills, the library will host basic machine sewing classes at 1 p.m. on April 21 and 28. The crafting momentum continues into May with a series of workshops held every Tuesday at 1 p.m. Featured projects include:
-
Teddy bear making
-
Chicken scratch embroidery
-
Mug rugs
-
Jewelry making
While many programs are open to the public, some classes may require a small materials fee.
History buffs should mark their calendars for 1:30 p.m. on April 21, when the library hosts a West Virginia History Alive! presentation. Doug Riley will perform as legendary author Mark Twain during the Ronceverte Library Guild program. The event is free to attend.
In addition to special workshops, the library maintains a regular weekly schedule. Mah Jongg players meet every Wednesday at 1 p.m., and an origami paper crafts class is held at 1 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of every month.
The season’s premier event, the library’s annual Spring Salad Luncheon, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 7. The luncheon will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church. Tickets are available at the library or from Board of Trustees members. Supporters can purchase tickets in advance or at the door, with options for dine-in, takeout or delivery.
