LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Carnegie Hall is pleased to offer Wheel, Too!, a six‑week intermediate wheel‑throwing series taught by regional ceramic artist Sean O’Connell. Meeting on Thursdays, April 9, 16, 23, 30, and May 7 and 21 from 6–8:30 p.m. (no class May 14), this course is designed for students ages 17 and older who are ready to expand their foundational skills and explore more advanced techniques in wheel‑thrown ceramics. With a maximum class size of eight, participants will benefit from personalized instruction and ample time at the wheel.
Created in response to strong community interest, this intermediate series builds directly on the skills introduced in Carnegie Hall’s beginner class. Students will explore a range of new techniques, including throwing larger forms, collaring, creating closed‑form vessels, working with throwing ribs, constructing two‑part vessels, and throwing off the hump. Each session is structured to help students strengthen their technical abilities while gaining confidence in tackling more complex forms.
Participants enrolling in Wheel, Too! should already have basic wheel experience, including the ability to center clay, throw simple cylinders and bowls, and trim their work. The course offers a supportive, creative environment where students can challenge themselves, refine their craft, and enjoy the satisfaction of progressing into new artistic territory. As always, fun and exploration remain at the heart of the studio experience.
The cost for the series is $225 for members and $250 for nonmembers. Early registration is encouraged due to limited space.
