CHARMCO- Back in September 2025, Greenbrier West softball standout Brilee Redden committed to play softball at Carolina University in Winston-Salem, NC.
Fast forward six months later and Redden decided that staying closer to her family and friends outweighed the other options of being far away.
Redden signed her National Letter of Intent on Tuesday, March 10 to continue her softball career at WVU Tech in Beckley with family, friends, and coaches by her side. The senior, who hit .526 with 10 home runs last season and also posted a 2.25 ERA in the pitcher’s circle, said the change of heart was about fit.
“The main reason I decided to go to Tech is because it is close to home and has a great program that fit best for me,” Redden said.
Academics is an important part of Redden’s regimen and that will be no different at the next level as she’s hoping for a good balance of athletics and keeping up in the classroom.
“Some goals I have for myself once I arrive on campus are to maintain good grades and continue to grow as an athlete to help my team win games.”
With softball starting soon and with Redden having one last go-round with her teammates, she knows exactly how she hopes her final season on the diamond will go.
“I hope for my senior year at West, that we will win regionals and compete in the state championship game,” Redden stated.
“I hope our team has a great season and most importantly, has fun.”
Redden will go down as a softball legend once it’s all said and done with the Cavaliers, but she wants to be remembered for her team-first approach and how she interacted with her coaches and teammates.
“I want people to remember that I am a very coachable, competitive and dedicated player. I want them to remember that I encouraged my teammates and only wanted the best for our team,” Redden concluded.
