Natural Resources Commission Meeting Rescheduled to March 12

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) — The West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR) today announced that the next quarterly meeting of the Natural Resources Commission (NRC) originally scheduled for Feb. 19 has been moved to Thursday, March 12 at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be held simultaneously in each of the WVDNR’s six districts, where the local commissioner and WVDNR staff will be present to gather public input. For those unable to attend in person, a view-only livestream will be available at youtube.com/@WVcommerce/streams.Those who want to address the commission must attend one of the following in-person locations:

  • District 1 – 1110 Railroad St, Farmington, WV 26571
  • District 2 – 1 Depot Street, Romney, WV 26757
  • Elkins Operation Center in District 3 – 738 Ward Road, Elkins, WV 26241
  • District 4 – 2006 Robert C Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801
  • WVDNR Headquarters in District 5 – 112 California Avenue, Charleston, WV 25305
  • District 6 – 76 Conservation Way, Parkersburg, WV 26104
The agenda includes the following items:
  1. Introductions
  2. West Virginia State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation Award Presentation
  3. Review, correct and approve the minutes of the December 11, 2025, meeting of the Natural Resources Commission
  4. Public comments
  5. 2026 Legislative Update
  6. Summary of the 2025-2026 Big Game Harvest Figures
  7. Proposed 2026-2027 Big Game Hunting Regulations
  8. Proposed 2027-2028 Hunting and Trapping Regulations
  9. Proposed 2027 Fishing Regulations
  10. Discussion of the 2026 Public Regulations Meetings Schedule
  11. Discussion of the 2026 second quarterly meeting of the Natural Resources Commission
    1. Commissioner recommendations for next meeting agenda
    2. Tentative dates and location for next meeting
  12. Adjourn
The NRC serves as an advisory body to the WVDNR on issues related to conserving the state’s natural resources and protecting fish and game species, which includes establishing hunting and fishing regulations, season dates and limits. WVDNR Reschedules Public Meetings on Proposed Regulations
As a result of this change, the WVDNR has also rescheduled public meetings on proposed hunting, trapping and fishing regulations. Those meetings, previously scheduled for March 10 and 12, will now take place on March 17-18 from 6-8 p.m. at the following locations:

Tuesday, March 17

  • Farmington – WVDNR District 1 Office
  • Alum Creek – Forks of Coal District 5 Office
  • Parkersburg – WVDNR District 6 Office
Wednesday, March 18
  • Romney – South Branch Inn
  • Beckley – Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center
  • Elkins – WVDNR Operations Center
