LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Feb. 7, an officer responded to the vicinity of Tudor’s Biscuit World in Lewisburg. The call was in reference to a domestic violence protection order violation. Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the caller, later identified as Erin Bumgardner. The officer asked Bumgardner to point out the individual she said was subjected to the DVP.
Bumgardner pointed to a male sitting at the opposite end of the dining room and said that was him. An officer went over to speak with the person Bumgardner identified as the male responsible for breaking the DVP. The officer identified the male by his Alabama driver’s license. The male was having breakfast with his wife, and neither he nor his wife had any idea who Bumgardner was.
The officer then asked to see the DVP Bumgardner had with her, as well as a photo on her phone of the person named. The person in the photo and the person sitting at the Tudors’ table were not the same, according to the criminal complaint.
Over the previous ten days, Bumgardner had made other calls to 911 reporting incidents that law enforcement determined to be false. One of which was in the City of Lewisburg on Feb. 2. During this call, Bumgardner alleged there was a breaking and entering situation at the Family Refuge Center in Lewisburg. Lewisburg Police Department officers responded to this call and reportedly found no incident was occurring. This was confirmed with the FRC director and employees. Bumgardner allegedly made another call on Feb. 4 outside Lewisburg city limits, which law enforcement responded to. The criminal complaint states that once again, there was no crime occurring.
With this knowledge of the previous incidents, Bumgardner was arrested for filing a false report and transported to the Lewisburg Police Department for processing. The officer was able to obtain an OLN photo of the man from the DVP, and it reportedly didn’t appear to be the man from Tudor’s. The man from the DVP had a large tattoo on the right side of his neck, and the man from Tudor’s had no tattoo.
Bumgardner is no longer listed as an inmate at the time of publishing.
