FAIRLEA- Another game, another win. Another AAAA opponent, another win.

Yes, the wins just keep on coming.

The Greenbrier East Lady Spartans got off to yet another quick start on Monday night versus the Class AAAA #10 Cabell Midland Lady Knights en route to a 64-40 blowout in front of a rather large home crowd at the Spartan Gym in Fairlea.

The Lady Spartans jumped out to a fast 11-0 start and extended that lead to 17-5 after one quarter.

Cabell Midland trimmed the deficit in the second quarter thanks in part to the play of Molly Guilliams, but Greenbrier East still held a 24-16 halftime lead.

And just as they have done consistently all season long, the Spartans came out completely prepared and motivated and dominated the second half.

They outscored the Lady Knights 40-24 in the third and fourth quarters.

The Spartans shot just 37 percent but held Cabell Midland to only 27 percent and forced them into 20 turnovers. East also went 21-26 from the charity stripe.

Ava Workman led East with 25 points. She was only 7-21 from the field but converted 11 out of 12 free throws. She also had 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Kennedy Stewart went 4-8 from 3-point land on her way to a 14-point night. The senior also dished out 6 assists, had 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Mackenna McClure contributed 8 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 steals, while Hannah Fuller scored 8 points and had 5 boards as well.

Guilliams led Cabell Midland (11-6) with 17 points.

With the victory, Greenbrier East is now 20-0 and the chase for a perfect regular season is nearly complete. East will have a tough game this Wednesday, however, when they travel to Princeton, to take on the top 10 Lady Tigers. East was supposed to open the season at Princeton way back in early December, but the game was postponed.
