Charleston, W.Va. (WVDN) – Today, Governor Patrick Morrisey announced a $2 million grant for the Worthington Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation project in Marion County. Awarded through the Abandoned Mine Lands Economic Revitalization (AMLER) Program, the funding will help replace the failing vacuum sewer system in the Hutchinson area with a modern gravity system, addressing public health concerns plaguing the system.
“Investing in modern infrastructure is crucial to improving the quality of life in our communities and positioning them for future growth,” said Governor Morrisey. “This funding will address urgent needs in Worthington, and I commend Delegate Mallow for his dedication to making this happen.”
Marion County Delegate Phil Mallow has been a strong advocate for the project and expressed his gratitude for the funding, which is part of a larger, $6 million investment, that will help replace crumbling infrastructure within the sewer system to help eliminate service disruptions, protect the local environment, and improve daily life for the more than a hundred customers who depend on the service.
“This is an important first step toward replacing worry with reliability and risk with safety,” said Delegate Mallow. “Securing this funding has been a priority for me, and I’m incredibly pleased that we are one step closer to providing the people here with reliable, modern infrastructure.”
