WILLIAMSBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Jan. 21, around 00:55, an officer was dispatched by Greenbrier County 911 to the vicinity of Williamsburg. The caller said a woman, later identified as Heather Cox, had taken his vehicle and his phone from his home.
After the officer talked to the victim on the phone, the victim allegedly said he let Cox live with him and that she wanted him to take her to the Quality Inn in Lewisburg to buy drugs, according to the complaint. The victim reportedly said he told Cox he didn’t want to go anywhere, but she went on and started the vehicle. She allegedly came back into the residence, threw his jacket at him, and said she was ready to go. The victim again told her he wasn’t going anywhere and that he was going to call the cops. The victim reportedly said Cox left the home with his phone in a white Chevrolet Colorado.
While the officer was talking to the victim, he reportedly saw a vehicle matching the description drive past where he was parked. The officer then initiated a traffic stop to identify the driver. According to the criminal complaint, as the officer spoke with Cox, she admitted that the vehicle belonged to the victim and that she didn’t have permission to have it. The victim’s phone was reportedly in the vehicle as well. Cox was placed under arrest for grand larceny, and the vehicle was towed. The vehicle was a 2026 valued at $44,000.
At the time of publishing, Cox is in Southern Regional Jail with bail set at $5,000.
