Charleston, W.Va. (WVDN) – Delegate Scot Heckert (R-Wood), officially filed for re-election to keep his seat in the House of Delegates, District 13 which covers part of Wood County.

“From day one, I have made a commitment to Wood County to work in the best interest of our people. I have listen to concerns of our folks, fought hard and now my focus still remains the same. We need more jobs, a strong economy, more money for schools and a safer environment for our kids where they will have opportunities right here at home,” said Heckert.

Heckert is a native West Virginian. Prior to being elected, he served as Vice President of the American Riverboat Company and remains active in the business community.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to represent the people of Wood County,” said Heckert, “While we have accomplished a lot, there is still work to be done to improve our quality and affordability of life in West Virginia.”

Heckert is a lifelong West Virginian from Parkersburg. Before public service, he was active in business leadership, and in community organizations. Heckert chairs the Public Health Committee and serves on the following committees: Health and Human Resources, Homeland Security, Judiciary.

“This next session, we have to make sure that we keep our priorities straight: more jobs, a stronger economy, public safety and creating more opportunities for our kids to be able to thrive right here at home,” added Heckert.
