RONCEVERTE W.Va. (WVDN) – The Ronceverte Public Library is more than just a place for books—it’s a hub for creativity, learning, and community care. To enhance its latest initiatives, the library is seeking donations for its new Makerspace and its specialized programs for patrons living with Alzheimer’s.
While the items on the wish list are often associated with childhood play, they serve a vital dual purpose. For the library’s younger visitors, these tools spark imagination and motor skill development. For patrons with Alzheimer’s or dementia, these tactile objects provide essential sensory stimulation, help maintain manual dexterity, and offer a calming, therapeutic focus.
The library is currently accepting donations of new or gently used items. If you are cleaning out your toy chests or looking to contribute to a meaningful local cause, please consider donating the following:
-
Building Sets: Small Legos, building blocks, and Lego figures (people or animals).
-
Sensory and Fine Motor Toys: Items featuring zippers, buttons, shoestrings, or lacing and threading cards.
-
Interactive Boards: Children’s “busy boards” equipped with latches, doors, and switches.
-
Puzzles and Sorting: Wooden tray puzzles, shape-sorter balls, and Playdough shape cutouts.
Items can be dropped off directly at the Ronceverte Public Library. Please ensure that used items are clean and in good working condition.
By donating, you aren’t just giving away a toy—you’re providing a tool for connection and comfort for neighbors of all ages.
