CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – The Rio Phillips for U.S. Senate campaign will formally file its $1,740 candidate filing fee on Monday, Jan. 12, at noon at the West Virginia State Capitol in Charleston, officially launching a people-powered challenge for the U.S. Senate. They are inviting the press to attend. They will hold a press conference on the steps facing the Kanawha River immediately after paying the fee.

The campaign invites Democrats, progressives, leftists, independents, and working-class West Virginians from every corner of the state to join the movement and stand together for a new political direction rooted in “dignity, fairness, and accountability.”

Rio Phillips is running on a “straightforward, Progressive, working-class platform that reflects the urgent needs of West Virginia families: Medicare for All, dramatically expanded social services, clean drinking water for every community, safe and reliable roads statewide, and the protection of the U.S. Constitution.”
