GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – On Tuesday, Dec. 30, the Greenbrier County Commission met in regular session. After opening with the pledge and prelude, the Commission went through regular business and then moved on to new business.
Amanda Smarr was on hand to discuss the Greenbrier County gig-ready project. An invoice for $1,400 was due, payable to Thomson and Litton. Of the $1,400, $350 was to come from the TIF fund, and the remaining 75% from grant funds. This was for engineering work.
The Commission voted to approve the bid letter received on Dec. 19 from Thomson and Litton. The state has everything needed, and the bid is in order. The information has to be in the local papers, then it will be 30-45 days, putting a start date at February-early March. There’s been a year allowed for construction.
Matt Ford was on hand to discuss the Meadow River Trail Phase Three. The original completion date was Feb. 19, 2026, but there are concerns about hydro seeding in the winter. It wasn’t wanted to put all the work off until May, so the construction of the additional culvert continues. The hydro seeding adds six days, making February 26, 2026, the new date. The project is expected to be completed by May 30. Commissioner Holliday told Ford that the trail was going to be phenomenal. This was after taking a ride out on the trail.
The Sheriff was on hand for the separation of employment for Shane Peacock. Effective Dec. 26, 2025. It was agreed he could purchase his on-duty firearm. Peacock took a job with Immigration Enforcement.
Also up was home confinement officer new hire Jesse McCoy. The sheriff noted McCoy was a fine, hardworking young man. He is to start on Jan. 13.
