CHARMCO, W.Va. — The Greenbrier West Cavaliers wrestling team showed determination and skill at the Lindsey Raines Memorial Tournament this past weekend, honoring the memory of beloved alum Lindsey Raines.
The annual event brought together teams from across southern West Virginia for a day of competitive wrestling and community spirit. Greenbrier West faced tough competition from schools including Oak Hill, Tyler Consolidated, Nicholas County and Midland Trail.
Despite a smaller roster and some weight class forfeits, the Cavaliers earned notable victories over Nicholas County (57-24), Midland trail (55-12), and a combined JV all-star team, while falling to Oak Hill (36-44) and Tyler Consolidated by criteria (43-42).
The Cavaliers’ efforts at the tournament reflected both their skill and resilience. With the Lindsey Raines Memorial Tournament behind them, Greenbrier West looks ahead to the Army National Guard Duals in Summersville and the rest of the wrestling season, hoping to build on their strong start.
