FAIRLEA- After a surprising close first half that saw the Greenbrier East Lady Spartans up just five points, the second half was a different story as East outscored their opponents, the Covenant School Lady Eagles (VA) 35-24 and eventually ran away with the contest on Saturday night, December 20.

It was the Spartans final pre-Christmas game.

Ava Workman put the team on her back at times and led Greenbrier East with 24 points. Kennedy Stewart netted 18 points.

Regan Rink provided a spark in the third quarter for East off the bench. She scored, grabbed a couple key offensive rebounds, and played good defense underneath in a critical two-minute stretch.

East will get a nice break and then return to the court on Monday, Dec. 29 for the Spartan Christmas Showcase.
