LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Dec. 15, an officer responded to the vicinity of Quality Inn regarding a call of a male who may be doing drugs in the lobby restroom. The caller told the officer they wanted the male, later identified as Brandon Mann, removed from the property. They said he had walked to the backside of the building and gave the officer a description of Mann’s clothing.

The officer reportedly found Mann walking away from the pool area, heading towards Walmart across Underwood Drive. The officer stopped Mann and asked him if everything was okay. The officer explained that a call had been received that Mann was doing drugs in the bathroom at the motel. Mann allegedly said he was trying to get to Walmart, and someone had asked him what he was doing.

According to the complaint, the officer then asked Mann to step over to a split fence so he could pat him down for weapons, and Mann agreed to this. As they were walking, the officer reportedly saw a holster for a gun looped through Mann’s pants. The officer asked Mann if he had any weapons, to which Mann replied, “Maybe a knife and a rig [hypodermic needle].” The officer then asked if the needle had a cap, and Mann reportedly said it did not.

The officer had Mann get into an emergency vehicle and began retrieving those items from his pockets. Another officer backtracked to a bush near the pool at the motel and found a backpack. Mann reportedly denied the backpack was his when asked about it.

Allegedly, the caller said it was the backpack they saw in Mann’s possession. Officers then searched the backpack and found pills, along with a cellphone, to which Mann reportedly knew the password, according to the criminal complaint.

Also found was a 5.7 magazine filled with ammunition, a Davis Industries model D 38 special with two rounds chambered, and a Star Fire semi-automatic 45 caliber, also loaded, the complaint states. The holster Mann was wearing was reportedly form-fitted to the 45 caliber handgun. Mann also had 7 hydrocodone, according to the complaint, which is a controlled substance.

Mann was placed under arrest and processed at the Lewisburg Police Department. Then Mann was transported to Southern Regional Jail.

An officer reportedly noticed on the transport to Southern Regional Jail that Mann was stuffing something down the crack between the seats. Upon inspection, it was a small Altoid tin containing a small amount of a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine. Mann was charged with another count of possession of a controlled substance.

At the time of publishing, Mann is not listed as an inmate at Southern Regional Jail.
