CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) – State Treasurer Larry Pack today announced that many SMART29 account owners will have the ability to make withdrawals directly from the READYSAVE529 mobile app.
The new feature is available to SMART529 WV Direct and SMART529 Select account owners. Users can initiate withdrawals from the mobile app to an existing bank record or directly to a school.
“This new mobile app feature aligns with our efforts to modernize the State Treasurer’s Office and increase efficiencies,” Treasurer Pack said. “Contributing to your child’s college savings plan is a practical, meaningful gift that your child will appreciate into adulthood. Starting early with your SMART529 college savings plan means that your investments will have more time for potential growth.”
Currently, more than 3,300 SMART529 WV Direct Plan owners are already using the mobile app to check their account balances, transaction history, and investment allocations. In addition to the new feature allowing withdrawals, mobile app users can also add money to their accounts with one-time or recurring contributions and invite friends and family to help boost their savings with Ugift.
There are many ways to contribute to a SMART529 account including the following programs: Gift of College gift cards, Upromise, Ugift, and payroll direct deposit. Invest directly by clicking this link or call 866-574-3542 to request an enrollment kit.
SMART529 is a qualified tuition program issued by the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia College and Jumpstart Savings Programs and administered by Hartford Funds. Complete information about SMART529 plans and investment options is available at www.SMART529.com.
