FAIRLEA W.Va. (WVDN) – The GVAC Sea Dragons hosted a USA Swimming National Virtual Challenge meet on Saturday, Dec. 13.
These meets encourage swimmers to try new strokes and distances and feature specific events for national recognition. The Sea Dragons met this challenge head-on, with 32 athletes completing 47 first-time swims. There were 41 additional personal best times, and 16 new team records were set.
Swimmers with the most impressive time drops included Natalie Bailey, Austin Gill, Cayson Longanacre, Pierce Necessary, Clara Taylor, Luke Taylor and Kennedy Willis, each of whom improved by over 15% in a single event.
The national challenge events for this meet were the 400Y individual medley and the 500Y freestyle. Avery Hodges-McGuffin and Luke Taylor swam the 400Y IM.
GVAC entries for the 500Y freestyle were Tianna Allen, Harper Bostic, Cooper Homer, Ben Kelso, Chloe Madison, Milyn Neumann and Stella Rodebaugh.
Results are featured on the USA Swimming Block Party National Challenge Leaderboard (2025 Splash Bash). The Sea Dragons will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia, in January for the Cavalier Aquatics Winter Rumble.
