WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – Just one short month ago, groundbreaking occurred on a new 30,000 square foot facility in White Sulphur Springs that will serve as the future site of Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center. The center, which will focus on providing children, families and seniors with the opportunity to improve their health and wellness, will feature year-round access to indoor sports, after-school programs, senior activities, rentable spaces for private parties, classes and much more.

“We are very fortunate to have this facility coming to White Sulphur Springs,” says Mayor Thomas Taylor. “It will be a life-changing facility for all people.”

The center is the collaborative effort of a dedicated and passionate team of volunteers and the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation, with support and assistance from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. With construction progress planned for 2026 and Phase 1 completion expected in early 2027, the facility will steadily grow as subsequent phases will be completed after the initial opening.

According to the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation, which will serve as the fiscal partner for this project, construction will be made possible and fully funded by the generosity of private donors and grants. The organization’s website confirms the facility will operate independently through fundraising events, facility rental fees, grants and membership dues.

Although membership dues have yet to be determined, financial assistance will be made available for individuals and families in need to ensure everyone has access to the health and wellness opportunities offered by the facility. The decisions will be made based on income, and more details will be made available as the center nears completion.

According to a press release from the Greenbrier County Health Alliance, the October groundbreaking ceremony marked “the beginning of an exciting new chapter for families in Greenbrier Valley and the surrounding area. The Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center is envisioned as a hub for recreation, connection, and growth, offering a wide range of activities and programs for visitors of all ages.”

The Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center will be located on Route 92 at 481 Pocahontas Trail in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. For more information, visit GVFamilyActivityCenter.org. If you’d like to make a monetary donation online, please visit GVFoundation.org and click ‘Donate.’ If you wish to ensure your donation goes directly to the Greenbrier Valley Family Activity Center, scroll to the ‘Give to a Specific Fund’ area, click ‘Donate Now’ and enter the name of the fund in the appropriate box.
