WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) — Barnwood Builders, the beloved DIY and restoration brand behind the hit television show of the same name, is opening its doors to the public for an immersive new experience: a hands-on Build Your Own Reclaimed Timber Frame Garden Arbor Workshop at Barnwood Village in White Sulphur Springs.
Hosted by Barnwood Builders founder and master craftsman Mark Bowe, this intimate workshop invites participants to build a custom garden or wedding arbor using 18th- and 19th-century hand-hewn beams and traditional joinery techniques that date back to the medieval era. Each arbor is crafted from reclaimed barnwood full of character, ensuring that no two structures are alike.
“People have watched us save history for years, but this workshop lets them step into that story. When you build something with your own hands—using timber that’s been standing for over a century—it becomes more than an arbor. It becomes an heirloom,” said Mark Bowe, Founder of Barnwood Builders.
Each three-day workshop includes:
Two-night stay at Barnwood Village, White Sulphur Springs
Boxed lunch during the afternoon build
Celebratory dinner after the final day’s construction
A special gift
Personalized instruction alongside the Barnwood Builders team
Your completed timber frame arbor, ready to take home or arrange for delivery
The experience is ideal for couples, families, history lovers, woodworkers, and fans of the show who want a one-of-a-kind heirloom that blends craftsmanship, storytelling, and Appalachian heritage.
