LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – Carnegie Hall invites the public to a special evening of celestial exploration with “In the Dark of the Night,” presented by Dave Buhrman, on Tuesday, October 28, from 7 to 9 p.m. on the Carnegie Hall lawn. Admission is free, and donations are welcome.

This unique outdoor event celebrates the beauty of the night sky during one of the clearest viewing seasons of the year. Attendees will have the opportunity to observe Saturn’s rings, the first quarter moon, the Andromeda Galaxy, and other celestial wonders through telescopes provided by Buhrman. With most of the leaves off the trees, October offers ideal conditions for stargazing, and the Carnegie Hall lawn provides a perfect vantage point.

To enhance visibility, outdoor lighting will be dimmed, allowing constellations such as Cassiopeia, Hercules, and the Summer Triangle to shine through. Guests are encouraged to bring red lights or dimmed flashlights pointed toward the ground to preserve night vision. Seasonal hot drinks will be available, and attendees are advised to dress warmly and bring blankets or folding chairs to enjoy the full two-hour experience.

Please note: This event is weather-dependent. In the case of overcast skies on October 28, organizers will attempt to reschedule for the following evening or the next clear night. For the latest updates, visit Carnegie Hall’s Facebook page.

“In the Dark of the Night” is part of Carnegie Hall’s ongoing commitment to offering engaging, accessible programming that connects the community with the arts and sciences. For more information, visit carnegiehallwv.org, call (304) 645-7917, or stop by 611 Church Street, Lewisburg, WV.

Carnegie Hall programs are presented with financial assistance through a grant from the West Virginia Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
