GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – The General Andrew Lewis Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met on October 16 in the Tavern Room of the Greenbrier Historic Society’s North House. Those in attendance were Jodie Nidey, Doris Kasley, Judy Deegans, Suzanne Snyder, Karen Lee McClung, Carol Olson, Addie Goodrich, Mary Fullen, Page Hayes, Marit Withrow, Regent Deborah Phillips and new transfer Kerry Beth Johnson.

The meeting was called to order by Regent Phillips, and Karen Lee McClung introduced the guest speaker, Dr. Robert Conte, who is the retired historian of the Greenbrier Hotel. He entertained the group by speaking about his work and the many interesting people he met while there. Prior to moving to Ohio, member Barbara Hiltner donated a lovely Thanksgiving centerpiece for the dining room table. A quick auction of the piece was held. The winner was Jodie Nidey, who recently accepted the office of Registrar for the group. The group was asked to come in Colonial attire, and Nidey was the only one who did so.

Karen Lee McClung was the hostess for the meeting, and she served a delicious chocolate cake. Ruth Sturgill was to join McClung in being a hostess, but she recently lost her husband. Condolences were expressed for her loss.
