Monongahela National Forest and the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area are recruiting for candidates to serve as AmeriCorps members across the national forest. Learn about all the positions available and how to apply at https://www. appalachianforestnha.org/ become-an-americorps.
AmeriCorps members provide one year of service, allowing an individual to benefit local communities and landscapes while gaining professional development and building their skills. AmeriCorps members have the potential to receive an annual living allowance stipend of $15,100 and an education award of $6,345 upon completion of service. Positions start Sept. 8, 2021, and end Aug. 19, 2022. Most positions include some pre-scheduled evening and weekend activities.
Five positions are available on Monongahela National Forest:
Public Affairs Assistant in Elkins. This position will work to expand social media outreach efforts and conservation education programs across the Forest.
Heritage Program in Elkins. This position will support all facets of the Forest’s heritage program, with emphasis on education and outreach activities.
Seneca Rocks Discovery Center and Mon Forest Towns in Seneca Rocks. This position will work as an interpretive guide at the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center and assist with social media and event coordination. The position will also serve as a Mon Forest Towns Partnership Coordinator.
Watershed/Fisheries in Bartow. This position will actively engage in conserving, restoring, and enhancing fisheries and watersheds.
Community Outreach in Marlinton. This position will focus on building partnerships with local community members and organizations, as well as delivering hands-on conservation education programs to people of all ages.
