WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on Oct. 8, officers with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 open line call. The call came from the vicinity of White Sulphur Springs.
When the officer arrived at the address, they found a subject later identified as Hayden Workman. The officer reportedly asked Workman if anything had happened, as Greenbrier County Dispatch received a call from the address. According to the criminal complaint, Workman said that he had gotten into an argument with the victim. The officer asked if it became physical, and Workman, at first, allegedly said no.
The criminal complaint states that while speaking to Workman, the officer detected an odor of alcoholic beverages coming from Workman’s person. An officer asked Workman how much alcohol he had consumed, and Workman reportedly replied 10 cans of beer.
Right after talking with Workman, a male subject came to the front door. The male was asked if there was anything that occurred between Workman and the victim. He reportedly said they had gotten into an argument.
During this time, the victim came to the door, and the officer asked her to step outside and speak with him. The officer then reportedly asked if Workman had hit her during the argument. The complaint says she stated that he had hit her on the arm and in the face. When the officer heard this information, he took his flashlight and shone it into the woman’s face. He reportedly saw bruises below her left eye and along her nose.
The officer next went back to talk to Workman again and asked if he had hit the victim. He allegedly said he had, but that it was accidental. According to the criminal complaint, Workman was holding a dog, and the victim reached for it; as she did that, he allegedly swung and hit her.
Going on the statements of Workman and the victim and the visible evidence on the victim, the officer placed Workman under arrest for domestic battery. A search of Workman’s person was performed, and nothing of note was found. Another officer informed the victim of her right to file a domestic violence protection order against Workman, but she reportedly declined.
Workman was then transported to the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Department in Lewisburg for processing and then to Southern Regional Jail in Beaver. At the time of publishing, Workman is not listed as an inmate at SRJ.
