RONCEVERTE W.Va. (WVDN) – For several years, the Ronceverte Baptist Church (RBC) has held a fall festival celebration at the church on a Saturday afternoon. However, this year it will be a Community Fall Family Festival held at Ronceverte Island Park on Sunday, Oct. 12. The organizers of the festival have planned great food, exciting games, contests and even hayrides. This is a free event open to the community.
The event will begin with a morning worship service starting at 11 a.m. in the Island Park Amphitheater. The RBC worship band will lead the congregation in praise music with special music by Seth and Courtney Elmore. This will be followed by an inspirational message by RBC pastor, Ken Hawes.
At noon, at Shelter #1, there will be a picnic lunch with a variety of dishes including a cauldron of chili, hot dogs, white beans with corn bread, mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes, pasta salad, desserts and drinks.
Then, at approximately 1 p.m., an afternoon of fun and games will begin.
Games will include Tug of War, Three-Legged Race, Granny Pants, Balloon Pop, and more. Hayrides and ‘smores will also be available throughout the afternoon.
RBC encourages families (or individuals) who are interested to participate in two contests: a decorated pumpkin and a homemade decorated scarecrow. You will need to prepare these entries at home and bring them to Shelter #1 between 12 and 1 p.m. Cash prizes will be given for each of the two contests: $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place and $25 for 3rd place.
