PIPESTEM, W.Va. (WVDN) – Adventure seekers heading to Pipestem Resort State Park can now enjoy an even smoother, more scenic finish to their zipline experience with the grand opening of a brand-new tramway at the park.

The new tram, replacing the park’s long-standing original tramway, is designed specifically with zipliners in mind. After an adrenaline-pumping ride through the treetops and across the stunning Bluestone Gorge, zipline guests will now be transported back to the canyon rim via a modern, comfortable tram car that offers sweeping views of the gorge below.

“This tram elevates the overall zipline experience,” said Michael Buechler, CEO of Pipestem Adventures. “Not only does it serve a critical role in returning guests from the bottom of the gorge, it also gives them one final, unforgettable look at the beauty they just soared through.”

Pipestem’s zipline course is among the most thrilling in the region, with multiple lines that cross the river three times and drop deep into the gorge. The addition of the tram makes the experience more accessible and seamless, while enhancing the scenic value with one final breathtaking ride.

The previous tram, a favorite for decades, was retired after years of service. Its replacement blends modern reliability with timeless views — including panoramic glimpses of the Bluestone River, dramatic cliffs, and lush Appalachian Forest.

The tram will operate daily for zipline guests and will also be open to all park visitors interested in taking in the views from above. The zipline at Pipestem is open until the end of October – allowing guests to enjoy the fall weather and the autumn leaves.

Reservations for Pipestem Peaks Zipline Tours are now available by calling 1-833-WV-Parks (1-833-987-2757) or visiting wvstateparks.com or using the link wvstateparks.com/things-to-do/aerial-tours/pipestem-peaks/. Reservations are required to secure preferred tour times. Learn more about weight and age restrictions for the zipline at www.pipestemadventures.com. For details on tram operations contact the Pipestem Resort State Park office at 304-466-1800.
