WATTS
Ruth Watts passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea, WV.
A resident of Covington, VA for most of her life, she had lived the last year and a half at The Seasons Place in Lewisburg, WV. She was born on March 12, 1927, at her home place in Crows, VA, the daughter of William Perry and Nancy Hurd McDaniel.
Ruth was a beautician and owned her own shop in Covington until her retirement. Once she retired, she enjoyed playing golf with Polly and her family holidays and events with the Humphrey, Wise, and Watts families.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John Lewis Watts; her sisters and their spouses, Flossie (Lowell) Humphries, Virgie (Russell) Wise, Ruby (JB) Moore; and her brothers, Bill McDaniel, Ray McDaniel, and Johnnie McDaniel. A niece, Nancy Pearman, and a nephew, Barry Wise, also predeceased her.
Surviving her are her niece, Pat Withrow of Ronceverte, WV; her nephews, Mack Humphries of Covington, Mike Wise of Roanoke, VA, and Russell Wise Jr. of Vinton, VA. Ruth is survived by many great-nieces and nephews who treasured her for her zest for life and the joy and humor she brought to our family. She is also survived by special friends, Robert and Charlotte Shifflett and Noel and Carolyn Beech.
Her funeral will be Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Loving Funeral Home in Covington, VA, with visitation one hour before the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the First Christian Church, 231 E Fudge St., Covington, VA 24425 or to the Peyton Hospice House at 1265 Maplewood Ave, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
