Ben Anderson, a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, graduated from West Virginia University on Saturday, May 8, with a double-major in business management and accounting, and a triple-minor in economics, finance and fraud examination.
The recipient of the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences’ 2021 Presidential Leadership Award, Anderson was selected as Valedictorian of the Business College.
“I am so blessed by my family, my support system, my professors and all of the WVU Tech memories,” Anderson told The West Virginia Daily News. “I cherish the past four-years of my life. Now onward to finish my masters degree in accounting through Marshall University next spring, and obtain my CPA license.”
County Clerk Robin Loudermilk believes Anderson will continue to make a positive impact on the Greenbrier Valley, saying,” Ben is definitely an assert to the community. He is always up and at it, accomplishing and achieving things, and getting things done!”
Anderson is currently working with Gayle Mason McCroskey, CPA, in downtown Lewisburg.
“I’m blessed to be learning the accounting trade from her decades of professional experience, and under her guidance,” Anderson said. “She (McCroskey) has been a true blessing to me, and I am very thankful for our friendship, and her nurturing spirit of Christian love.”
Anderson’s hope is to remain in Greenbrier County, and develop strong relationships with his clients.
Although only 22-years-old himself, Anderson believes that “accounting is viewed by many young people, in error, as boring and tedious. To me, it is the essential lifeblood of business. I pray to be a blessing to others by making a positive impact through my work and reduce stress in the lives of local residents in a difficult financial climate. I am so grateful to be on this path.”
