WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS W.Va. (WVDN) – The 19th annual Freshwater Folk Festival returns to White Sulphur Springs on Saturday, September 6, 2025. In addition to returning favorites, the festival will feature some new activities for all ages. “It’s a day when people come to the hatchery and learn more about the array of species, get a better appreciation of nature and preservation,” says Larry Davis, President of Friends of the White Sulphur Springs National Fish Hatchery.
Festival goers can experience live music beginning at 10 a.m. with The Band: Common Ground, followed by Jim Snyder with Samuel James and Bob Riggleman at noon. At 2 p.m., the stage will host nature presentations by Roy Moose with Snakes of West Virginia, followed by Larry Two Rivers Brown on Native American viewpoints and flute music.
Among the participants of this year’s Freshwater Folk Festival are Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge, Southeastern West Virginia Beekeepers, Greenbrier Valley Sportsman Alliance, Appalachian Headwaters, Project Healing Waters, West Virginia Cave Conservancy, Greenbrier River Trail, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory, artwork by Jessica Levine and more.
In addition to educational resources, there will also be hands-on opportunities. Among them, a mock cave for children to enjoy and the popular Touch-A-Truck exhibit will return with a state police cruiser, skid steer from Boone Tractor, dump truck from Lynch Construction, WSS fire truck, forestry mulcher from Boone Tractor and an ambulance. This returning exhibit offers children the chance to meet and interact with local heroes, farmers and construction workers and their vehicles.

Choo Choo will be on hand with a selection of ice cream, brownies, cookies and other baked goods. Several other food vendors are still tentative.
