RONCEVERTE W.Va. (WVDN) – In a new social media statement, Ronceverte city officials noted that the safety concerns related to today’s (July 18) City Hall Lobby closure involved social media posts that staff felt could be precieved as threats. Officials anticipate the lobby reopening on Monday. See the full statement below.
“UPDATE: Please note that the safety concerns leading to the closure of City Hall to the public today WERE NOT directed at city residents. Statements and/or posts were made online that could have been perceived as threats to city government officials and staff.
“A decision was made to close the City Hall lobby to the public while these posts were being investigated.
“The City expects that the lobby will be open to the public on Monday. City Hall staff worked diligently today to prevent as little disruption to daily business and activities as possible.
“Again, we appreciate the patience and understanding of our amazing citizens. We must take any potential threats to city officials and/or city staff seriously, and will continue to do so in the future.”
