Carolyn Ann Neely Canterbury
Carolyn Ann Neely Canterbury, 79, of Sinks Grove, WV, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, July 5, 2025, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born on December 26, 1945, in Charleston, WV, Carolyn was the cherished daughter of the late Robert Lee and Virginia Isabel Peters Neely. She was a devoted homemaker, a steadfast member of Sinks Grove Baptist Church, and the heart of the Canterbury family farm, which she stewarded alongside her beloved husband of sixty years, Robert “Bob” Lemons Canterbury. Together, they built a legacy, nurturing cattle and sheep on their renowned Sinks Grove property.
Carolyn’s passion for agriculture shone brightly at the State Fair of West Virginia, where she was a beloved figure in the pig barn. For many years, she and her family dedicated themselves to breeding, raising, and selling both market and purebred show pigs. Her expertise was well known and widely respected — if you sought her opinion or guidance, she shared her wisdom generously and candidly.
Carolyn’s life was marked by deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a spirit of hospitality that touched all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her treasured daughter, Tina Canterbury Tuckwiller; her sister, Margaret Banton; and her brothers, Ron Neely and Robert L. Neely Jr.
Those who remain to honor and cherish her memory include her devoted husband, Bob; her son, Doug Canterbury (Debra); and her daughter, Paula Hines (Michael). Carolyn’s grandchildren — Tyler Canterbury (Taylor), Brandon Tuckwiller (Kaylee), Brianna Tuckwiller (Richie), Adyson Hines, Megan Canterbury, and Kadyn Hines — held a special place in her heart, as did her two “special” great-grandsons, Alden and Lucas Holliday. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Dale Banton and Bill Canterbury (Carolyn); her sisters-in-law, Penny Neely and Carol Spence; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.
Carolyn’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and community. She leaves behind a rich legacy of kindness, knowledge, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
