RONCEVERTE, W.Va. (WVDN) – The Ronceverte Public Library is celebrating a fresh new look and improved services this summer, thanks to recent grant funding that supported a series of renovations and upgrades.
Library officials say the grants, awarded through a combination of state, federal and local sources, have helped modernize the historic building and expand resources for the community. The improvements include updated technology, fresh interior spaces and new programming designed to meet the needs of residents. There is also a new community garden space and summer programs for children being offered.
“This funding allowed us to tackle projects we wouldn’t have been able to afford otherwise,” said Library Director Cherie Davis.
“It’s actually not just a garden outside; it’s a children’s outdoor interactive space, because the plants and the different things we have out there welcome children. The outside space was a combination of a state grant and local funds,” said Davis.
The upgrades were made possible in part by the West Virginia Library Commission’s Grants-In-Aid, which provides annual state funding to local libraries, and additional support from the Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation, as well as local donations.
In recent years, the library has also benefited from federal Library Services and Technology Act funds, which help rural and small-town libraries expand internet access, community outreach and digital literacy training.
With the recent renovations complete, the library is planning new classes, reading programs and community events to make the most of its improved facilities. There may also be more renovations in the future.
Residents are encouraged to stop by, see the updates and take advantage of the expanded services.
