GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – GVAC Sea Dragons swimmers competed in the outdoor, long course SMAC Summer Classic Meet in Waynesboro, Virginia, June 27-29. All of the participating swimmers had personal best times in almost every event they swam, and many new team records were set.
Bianca Arnold competed in her first long course meet, placing 9th and 11th in the 100m free and 50m back, respectively. Tianna Allen, Emily Hobbs, Zoey Hobbs, and Avery Hodges-McGuffin placed in the top 10 in each event they swam. Allen, Z. Hobbs, and Hodges-McGuffin improved their times by over 40%, with Allen setting new long course team records in each of her events.
E. Hobbs became the first Sea Dragon to complete the 800m free, placing 3rd in that event.
The Sea Dragons will participate in the long course state championship meet in Morgantown next week, followed by an end-of-summer home meet on July 16.
