LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – A group of concerned Greenbrier County residents has requested a meeting with Senator Jim Justice and his beloved companion, Baby Dog, on Wednesday, June 25, at 5:15 p.m. in the Greenspace on Washington Street in downtown Lewisburg.
The group plans to express their sincere appreciation for the Senator’s outspoken support for protecting Medicaid for West Virginians. At the same time, they hope to engage him in constructive dialogue about several alarming provisions in the over 1,100-page legislative proposal known as the “Big Beautiful Bill” that will directly affect every citizen of Greenbrier County.
The group has identified six critical areas of concern in the bill, including:
- Threats to rural healthcare access, including the possible closure of local hospitals, due to proposed changes to Medicaid
- Crippling changes to public school policies
- Restrictions on the authority of federal courts to hold public officials in contempt
- The mass sell-off of public lands
- A ban on the enforcement of existing Artificial Intelligence regulations
- Authorization for nationwide ICE raids
Community members believe these issues deserve greater public awareness and thoughtful opposition. The meeting is intended as an opportunity to share concerns and highlight how such measures could impact West Virginia families.
All media outlets and interested members of the public are invited to attend.
