Gassaway, W.Va. (WVDN) – Mountaineer Food Bank is proud to announce it has been awarded a$15,000 grant from Procter & Gamble to support critical summer feeding programs for children and families across West Virginia.
When school is no longer in session, many children lose access to the daily meals they rely on. This generous funding will allow Mountaineer Food Bank to expand its reach and increase the number of meal distributions to provide nutritious food to more children in our communities.
“We’re incredibly grateful for this support,” said Chad Morrison, CEO of Mountaineer Food Bank. “This grant is not just an investment in our programs, it’s an investment in the health, wellbeing, and future ofthe children we serve.”
1 in 5 children in West Virginia are facing food insecurity. Summer Meals Feeding Program is operated through USDA’s Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). All meals provided follow the USDA’s SFSP meal pattern requirement. Summer Meals seeks to reduce the number of children struggling with summer hunger and ensure that no child has to wonder where their next meal will come from.
