FAIRLEA- It was a very solid baseball season for the Greenbrier East Spartans who finished 19-13 on the season and made it deep into regional tournament play.

Three Spartan players were selected as Class AAA all-state members on Wednesday morning for their extraordinary efforts in 2025.

Leading the way was first team selection Zion Detko, a senior outfielder who was just one of four players named to the first team for that position. Detko, a University of Charleston baseball signee, hit .465 for the year and led Greenbrier East with five home runs, had 18 RBIs, and scored a team-best 41 runs.

Brady May, who played his first season with the Spartans after transferring from Alleghany (VA), earned second team honors. The junior hit .432, had two home runs, and knocked in 35 runs. On the mound, he had a nice 3.00 ERA. May was named a utility player on the all-state team.

Nelson Lynch, a sophomore, picked up a spot on the honorable mention team. He hit over .300 for the season and had two home runs, scored 32 runs and knocked in 17 more.

May and Lynch will return next season to anchor what should be another good team for coach Cory Mann and his staff.
