LANSING W.Va. (WVDN) – Adventures on the Gorge (AOTG), the premier outdoor adventure resort perched on the rim of the New River Gorge National Park in Lansing, West Virginia, is excited to announce the appointment of Tom Wagner as its new General Manager. A recognized leader in West Virginia’s tourism industry, Wagner brings more than 40 years of experience in tourism development and outdoor recreation to the helm of AOTG.

Wagner steps into the role following the retirement of Roger Wilson, who, after starting in the whitewater rafting industry as a guide, became CEO and recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of AOTG.  Under Wilson’s leadership, AOTG expanded its offerings to include world-class whitewater rafting on the New and Gauley Rivers, jet boat tours at Hawks Nest State Park, the iconic Bridge Walk tours under the New River Gorge Bridge, and management of the state’s newest state park on Summersville Lake. His efforts also culminated in AOTG’s acquisition by Aramark Destinations, a national leader in hospitality and recreation management at iconic destinations across the United States.

“Adventures on the Gorge has long been a place where adventure and community meet,” said Wagner. “I’m excited to join the AOTG and Aramark team and lead our talented staff in serving an ever-growing number of visitors. We look forward to a new era of growth and guest service excellence, creating lifelong memories and supporting our communities. Together, we are ready to lead the world outdoors.”

Wagner’s deep roots in West Virginia’s outdoor industry date back to his early days as a rafting pioneer. His resume includes key roles in the development of the Bechtel Summit High Adventure Base and significant contributions to the state’s ski industry—earning him a place in the West Virginia Skiing Hall of Fame. His passion for the region and commitment to sustainable tourism are well known across the state.

“West Virginia and the New River Gorge are ideal for family vacations and outdoor getaways,” added Wagner. “With breathtaking landscapes, a wide range of activities, mouthwatering cuisine, and diverse lodging options, the New River region is one of the most accessible and affordable destinations in the country, and it’s all delivered with our signature warm West Virginia hospitality.”

About Adventures on the Gorge
