A Greenbrier County man was arrested on Thursday, May 6 after an apparent overdose led to the discovery of a significant amount of narcotics. Joshua Caleb Honaker, 27, of Lewisburg has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a schedule IV controlled substance.
In a statement released on the afternoon of Friday, May 7, Greenbrier County Sheriff Bruce Sloan said, “On Thursday, May 06, 2021, at approximately 7:19 am, Corporal B. J. McCormick, of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office, was dispatched to a call on Blue Sulphur Road near Alderson.
Upon arrival Corporal McCormick was met by Chief J. R. Byers of the Alderson Police Department. Chief Byers had found an individual passed out in a vehicle on the roadway when he arrived. The individual was awakened and the officers located a glass jar near the driver that contained a bag of a crystal- like substance, white in color, that tested positive for methamphetamine. The weight of the methamphetamine was 54 grams. Also located in the jar was a bag containing fifty (50) Alprazolam tablets. Additionally, a semi-automatic handgun, as well as a set of digital scales, were found in the vehicle.
Another jar was found that was sealed with black electrical tape. A search warrant was obtained for the jar and upon execution of the search warrant the jar was found to contain a bag of crystal-like substance, white in color. That substance also tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed 60 grams.
The occupant of the vehicle, identified as Joshua Caleb Honaker, age 27 of Lewisburg, was charged with 2 counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Mr. Honaker was arraigned before a Greenbrier County magistrate and incarcerated in the Southern Regional Jail in lieu of bond.
Corporal McCormick was assisted in his investigation by Chief Byers.”
Honaker’s bail has been set at $50,000 cash-bond or surety.
