CHARMCO- Once softball season ended for the Greenbrier West Lady Cavaliers, all eyes turned to the release of the Class A all-state teams with many wondering how many would the Lady Cavs have selected.
Well, that was answered on Monday morning when four of the girls were announced as all-state honorees.
Brilee Redden, Maddie Fields, and Preslee Treadway all impressively made the first team while their teammate Brooklyn Adkins took home a spot on the honorable mention list.
All four players helped lead Greenbrier West to the state tournament in South Charleston where they went 1-2 with their first ever state tournament victory in school history.
A dual threat on the field, Redden hit .526 with 10 home runs and 33 RBIs. She also tossed a couple no hitters in the pitcher’s circle, including a perfect game.
Treadway is no stranger to the all-state teams during her career. After this selection, the now graduated senior received seven first team all-state honors throughout her three sports (volleyball, basketball, and softball). She hit .393 this season with three home runs and 31 RBIs.
Fields got her first selection to the first team in her career and honestly it should realistically be her second or third. The senior did, however, save her best for last. She hit for an average of .436 with four homers and 35 RBIs.
Adkins had a stellar year as well for the Cavs. The catcher led her team in RBIs with 38 and also slugged three home runs, two of which were grand slams.
