Doris Jean Deem Lovelace

Doris Jean Deem Lovelace, age 78, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025. She was born on August 19, 1946, to Samuel and Ethel Ridgeway Deem of Ronceverte. She lived most of her life near her homeplace on Rockland Road.

Doris was well-known in Lewisburg for her entrepreneurial spirit, owning two restaurants, The Court and Fife and Drum. Her dedication to the community extended beyond her businesses, as she tirelessly cared for many elderly individuals in their times of need.

Doris was preceded in death by not only her parents, but also her sisters, Hazel Russell Goins and Louise Sturgell; as well as three brothers, Charles, Gary and Samuel D. Deem; and a special niece, Sherry Morgan.

She is survived by two sons, David Lovelace (Sherry) and Donald Lovelace (Kasie), all of Ronceverte. Her grandchildren, Jessica Hambrick (Mike), Sammy Lovelace (Leah), Bethany Lovelace and Kacey Brant Withrow Feury, were her pride and joy. Her great-grandchildren, whom she adored, include Brooklyn Hambrick, Nataleigh Hambrick, Elijah Hambrick, Kalianna Withrow, and Gunnar Feury. Also survived by fiancé, David Stidom; a dear friend, Phyllis Elmore; and the father of her boys, Leon Lovelace. Thomas G. Deem (Barb), Roger Deem, and Johnny Deem (Melanie) are her surviving brothers; and a brother-in-law, Herman Sturgell. Doris was also loved by several special nieces and nephews, including Debbie Blankenship (Jeff), Lillian Tamara Conner (Leonard), Daniel Deem (Allison), Kimberly Withrow (David), Wolly Sturgell, Samuel Deem (Emily), Thomas L. Deem (Angela), Ethel Deem, James Morgan, Jay Blair (Tiffany), Amanda Hunt (Jeremy), Charles Deem (Kelly), and Lee Deem. She is also survived by aunts, Catherine Ridgeway and Nancy Morgan; as well as numerous great-nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral service will be at 12 noon, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, Lewisburg, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Ketron Cemetery, Ronceverte, WV.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Ketron Cemetery Fund, c/o Karen West, PO Box 251, Ronceverte, WV 24970.
