MORGANTOWN W.Va. (WVDN) – Morgan Pendleton, M.D., graduated from West Virginia University (WVU) with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree on Saturday, May 16.
Dr. Pendleton matched into general surgery for residency and proudly received the Thomas H. Covey Jr., M.D. Surgery Award. This was presented in recognition of the highest academic achievement by a fourth-year medical student entering into a General Surgery residency, as determined by the Surgical Faculty and Residents of the Morgantown campus.
“I’ve thought and I’ve thought, but I can’t find the words for how blessed and fortunate I am to have the people I do,” Pendleton said. “They have built me up to be extraordinary and strong-willed before they ever knew what I would become. This accomplishment is the product of everyone who has poured so much love and hope into a little girl who could be anything she wanted.”
Dr. Pendleton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise physiology from WVU in 2021. She is a 2017 graduate of Greenbrier East High School in Lewisburg, West Virginia.
She is the daughter of Drew Pendleton of Lewisburg and Crystal Pendleton of Rainelle. She is the granddaughter of Randy and Andrea Pendleton of Rainelle, Barbara Bragg of Lewisburg and the late Bobby Bragg; and the late Jerry Beam of Quinwood.
By her side was her fiancé, Dr. Kyle Davis, who also graduated from WVU with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree with a match in general surgery. Morgan will complete her general surgery residency at WVU, while Kyle will complete his general surgery residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Virginia.
