Gail Doris Scott Morgan

Gail Doris Scott Morgan was born at Hopper Siding, WV, on September 13, 1937, to John Clyde Scott, Sr. and Mary Virginia Seldomridge Scott.

Gail grew up on the family farm, always attached at the hip to her dad. She loved everything about the outdoors; the river, the woods, gardening, and playing with her sisters, nieces, and cousins. She attended Hickory Top Grammar School and Lewisburg High School. She was very close to her classmates and loved sharing time with them.

She married Norman K. Morgan in 1956, started a family, and began raising their three children in Organ Cave. She and Norman purchased her family farm in 1977 and returned to Hopper.

Gail worked at The Greenbrier Hotel, Sears, and Bendix, before finally settling into the role of homemaker where she shared unconditional love to her family and went on to help raise her two grandchildren. She was a member of Zion’s Light Baptist Church, and deeply loved and cherished her church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, John Clyde Scott, Jr.; sisters, Janet Scott Morgan, Edith Lynn Scott, Virginia Scott Gray, and Susan Scott Vaughan. She is survived by her sister, Areleen Scott Tharp; daughter, Lisa Lynn Morgan; sons, Duane Scott Morgan (Nuala Gallagher) and Daren K. Morgan; grandchildren, Holly L. Morgan and Logan K. Morgan. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Ronda Neal Scott, Geraldine Morgan Dalton, Marthena Morgan Persinger; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other cherished family and friends.

Gail went to the Kingdom of Heaven on May 19, 2025, at her beloved homeplace, Hopper.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion’s Light Baptist Church – PO Box 502, Ronceverte, WV 24970.

A Visitation was held on Thursday, May 22nd, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Zion’s Light Baptist Church, followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Gary Baker officiating. A Graveside Service immediately followed at McLean Cemetery.

Online guestbook can be signed at www.morganfh.net.

Arrangements by Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, WV.
