Mary Carol Carter

Mary Carol Carter, aged 84, from Ronceverte, WV, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Lewisburg Healthcare Center. Born on December 19, 1940, in Alderson, WV, she was the daughter of James Luther and Jewell Eloise Ballengee Bennett.

Carol was a member of the Fort Spring Missionary Baptist Church, where she participated in various church activities. She worked as a Mechanical Assembler at ABB until her retirement.

She owned Antiques, Treasures and Junque in Ronceverte for many years, running her business with dedication. She enjoyed outdoor activities and spending time with her dogs.

Carol’s family included her husband, Lloyd Alton Carter, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Beth Thompson; brothers, Cecil and Lee Bennett; and sister, Delphia Lemons.

She is survived by her son, Mike Thompson; and daughter, Shelly Ott (Danny). Her extended family includes stepdaughters, Penny Dolan (Eddie) and Paula Hudson (Roger). Her siblings – brother, Carl Bennett (Wanda), and sister, Doris O’Neil, also survive her.

Carol’s grandchildren include Carter Raines (Allesha), Mary Paige Raines, and Katie Windon (Jason); as well as step-grandchildren, Adam Dolan (Kristen), Megan Morris (Justin), Nikki Carter, Courtney Brown, and Frankie Melara. She has eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service was held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Fort Spring Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Joey Morgan officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. The burial followed the service at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
