LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) – The West Virginia Daily News annual Greenbrier Humane Society item drive, running now through April 30, is off to a slow start. The WVDN office is serving as a drop-off point for pet products, which our team will deliver to the Greenbrier Humane Society.
Your contributions to this drive can profoundly impact the lives of animals in need, providing them with comfort, security, and hope for a brighter future. This initiative is vital for supporting the Humane Society’s mission by ensuring that animals receive the essential care and resources they require.
Donations not only offer physical comfort but also enhance the mental well-being of animals, helping to reduce stress and anxiety in unfamiliar environments. Additionally, your generosity alleviates the financial burden on the Humane Society, allowing them to focus on critical services such as veterinary care, spaying and neutering programs, and overall animal welfare initiatives.
The item drive also strengthens our community by uniting us in the fight against animal cruelty and neglect. Last year, the Greenbrier Valley exceeded our donation goals, and we hope to do it again!
Here’s a wish list of items that the Humane Society urgently needs: 13-gallon trash bags, clip-on leashes, dog toys, bleach, HE laundry detergent, non-clumping cat litter, contractor trash bags, adult dog and cat food, small bites dry dog food, quart and gallon-size Ziploc bags, and stainless steel bowls (all sizes).
You can find pictures and descriptions of animals ready for adoption on the Humane Society’s Facebook page, and we also feature an adoptable animal each week in our newspaper.
If you’d like to contribute, please drop off items from the wish list at the West Virginia Daily News office at 188 Foster St. in Lewisburg, Monday through Thursday, between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM. We’ll ensure your donations reach the Humane Society. Let’s keep the donations coming—while we may have started slowly, it’s not how you begin the race, but how you finish that matters! Thank you for your support!
