LEWISBURG W.Va. (WVDN) — Downtown Lewisburg will transform into a haven for chocolate enthusiasts on Saturday, April 12, as the 17th Annual Lewisburg Chocolate Festival returns. The day-long event promises a delectable array of chocolate treats, live entertainment and community engagement.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., attendees can stroll through the streets, sampling a wide variety of chocolate creations offered by local and regional chocolatiers. Offerings will range from classic truffles and rich cakes to more unique and innovative chocolate-infused delights.

In addition to the abundance of sweet treats, the festival will feature a vibrant atmosphere with live music performances, chef demonstrations showcasing culinary chocolate skills, and live theater excerpts. Adding a touch of whimsy, a “Willy Wonka on Stilts” character will be roaming the downtown area.

The Greenbrier Valley Hospice Chocolate Chase 5K/10K & Fun Walk will kick off the day’s activities at 9 a.m. For family fun, Candyland photos will be available free of charge, and face painting will be offered for a fee.Costumed members of the 501st Legion, Garrison Corellia, will also be present for photo opportunities.

A highlight for many is the annual Mousse Eating Contest, sponsored by the Lewisburg Rotary Club, scheduled for 12:30 p.m. at the Greenspace. Registration for the messy competition begins at 11 a.m.

The Greenbrier Humane Society will also participate, hosting an adoption event during the festival, offering attendees the chance to meet potential furry companions.

Tasting tickets are required for sampling the chocolate offerings and are available for purchase. Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended due to anticipated high demand.

The Greenbrier Historical Society is the designated non-profit partner for the 2025 festival.

Organizers anticipate a large turnout for this annual celebration of all things chocolate, drawing visitors from across the region to experience the unique charm and sweet temptations of Lewisburg.
