ASBURY W.Va. (WVDN) – Rosemary’s Pumpkins and Pines kicked off the year with its first ever K9 Easter Egg Hunt on Monday, March 24, at 5 p.m.
The event featured over 100 eggs filled with an array of treats, including dried salmon and liver, to encourage the participating dogs in their search. A total of nine dogs and their owners attended, making for an exciting and festive evening.
Among the standout participants was Jingle, handled by Cari Ortman, who eagerly found her eggs and dropped them into her Easter basket. Occasionally, she couldn’t resist cracking an egg open to enjoy a treat on the spot. Hennessy, guided by Ryan Mollet, showed remarkable cleverness in tracking down her eggs, while Arielle, handled by Helen Igo, excelled in the hunt with an impressive search performance.
Adding to the festivities, Sprite and Dazzle, owned by Johnny and Stuart King, arrived in style with matching baskets and bunny ears. Saber, led by Laura Hark-Plumly, remained focused and determined, enjoying every moment of cracking open his eggs. The title of most eggs found went to Louse, handled by Julie Nester, who took home the most toys and treats.
The dogs who participated boast impressive credentials, holding titles in various canine sports and activities, including Barn Hunt, Scent Work, Agility, AKC Canine Good Citizen, AKC Champion, Rally, Fast CAT, Beginner Novice Obedience, Herding, and Tracking.
Additionally, Jingle and Cinda, trained at the K9 Academy in Rupert, WV, have earned an invitation to the prestigious 12th AKC Rally National Championship, taking place in Gray Summit, Missouri, on July 3-5, 2025.
Rosemary’s Pumpkins and Pines hopes to make the K9 Easter Egg Hunt an annual tradition, inviting even more dogs and owners to join the fun next year.
