Charleston, W.Va. (WVDN) – Governor Patrick Morrisey announced today that the federal government accepted his request for Individual Assistance and Public Assistance in Raleigh County. In Boone County, the Governor’s request for Public Assistance was accepted.

“As southern West Virginia continues to recover from February’s flooding, we’re grateful to receive federal assistance in two additional counties,” said Governor Morrisey. “The Trump administration and FEMA have been supporting us every step of the way as we work to aid West Virginians in the recovery process.”

Individual Assistance has now been approved in the following counties: Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh, Wayne, and Wyoming.

Public Assistance has been approved in the following counties: Boone, Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming

The Individual Assistance (IA) Program provides funds to individuals experiencing significant damage to homes or property. The Public Assistance (PA) Program provides supplemental grants to state and local governments and certain private non-profits to cover their costs for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and infrastructure restoration.

At this time, Individual and Public Assistance requests for additional counties are still under review by FEMA.

FEMA is accepting applications for Individual Assistance in the designated counties. For information on how to apply, visit FEMA’s website here.
