FRANKFORD W.Va. (WVDN) – A man was arrested after a stolen vehicle led authorities to a drug bust at a residence in Greenbrier County earlier this month.
On March 10, an officer responded to a report of a stolen vehicle that had crashed at a residence on Boones Mountain Road in Frankford. Upon arrival, the responding officer observed debris and glass scattered along nearby Anthony Road which appeared to be connected to the crash, according to the criminal complaint.
At the scene, police contacted the victim, who confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and had been located at the residence. The victim directed the deputy to the property where the officer encountered a man later identified as the resident. This person confirmed that he lived at the residence and granted permission for police to enter. Inside, the deputy found a man, identified as Jonathan W. Moore, slumped over on a bed in a bedroom.
In plain view, the officer observed a plastic baggie containing a large quantity of a white, powdery substance. Based on his training, the officer suspected the substance to be methamphetamine. Moore insisted and tried to confirm the room was his.
A search warrant was obtained, and upon further investigation, authorities discovered additional baggies and a scale, which are items typically associated with drug distribution. A field test kit confirmed that the substance tested positive for cocaine. Moore’s criminal history revealed several prior drug-related offenses.
Authorities believe the items found in Moore’s possession suggest involvement in the sale of illegal narcotics. Moore, 38, faces charges related to drug trafficking and possession. The investigation is ongoing.
At the time of publishing, Moore is in Southern Regional Jail, with bail set at $10,000.
